Ashianae’s Journey is a game that focuses heavily on questing and puzzle solving to reveal portions of the storyline, and to allow players to advance. Various traditional elements of popular RPGs are found in Ashianae, such as PvP and PvE combat, and a focus on character development. Additionally, Ashianae employs as many tactics as possible on the gaming engine to make the environment feel “alive”. While combat is an important part of game play, early on the team has decided to make it take a back seat to storyline development, and quests offered in the game. We would rather expend as many of our efforts as necessary to providing engaging quests that are not as stat based as PvP or PvE activities.
However, this is not to say that Ashianae does NOT put focus into the creative development of NPCs and combat activities. Quite the contrary, it is our goal to provide as much of an opportunity to solve puzzles within large quests and provide engaging environments for users to hunt and battle within.
In addition to providing exciting quests and combat opportunities, it is our focus to also fill the environment with as much quality art as possible. That is to say, while we want the landscapes to be expansive, we want them to entice and intrigue. What is exciting about a forest if it is not a breath taking experience? It is our goal to provide as content rich and immersive environment as possible.

Lore & Storyline
On a dark night, a call went out to any souls that could save the fate of Ashianae, the greatest empire in all of Draedan mythology. Who would answer the call? Who could reveal the path to redemption for a society so lost and fallen?
The story begins many years ago, when a fair sized ship sailed the treacherous and violent seas of Dur’aro in search of what some called the “Salvation”. For months the ship seemed to navigate towards a destination that appeared just within reach. As time continued to stretch out in front of, and behind our adventurers, it seemed as though the hope of ever reaching their destination grew more and more faint. It suddenly seemed that for every day of progress the ship had made previous, weeks of disaster followed close behind. Crew grew sick and died, water supplies continuously grew scarce, and over all moral led to more than a handful of violent out breaks. As their numbers grew fewer, the ideal that caused the cursed journey was tested and challenged more frequently. Was it all in vain? You see, our adventurers left their homes in search of a better life. This is not to say the life left behind was that of tyrants and murderers, in fact quite the opposite was true. The life left behind was one of great joy and happiness, but a joy and happiness that in and of itself was being tested.
Two generations prior to our crusaders journey across the seas, a violent plague crept through society, causing many to die slow and excruciatingly painful deaths. At first the plague effected few enough that for many years there was no great alarm as to its existence or effects upon the population, until one day the plague flew through the streets and affected nearly three quarters of the population. It is said that that year the plague moved through every household in the lan, claiming no less than two-thirds the population. It was in that year the elders of Ashianae ordered the entirety of the healthy population below ground, into an ancient cave system that was discovered when the island was first explored.
For many years following their initial retreat from the surface, the Ashianae lived well in the caves until slowly traces and evidence of the plague were found making its way through this new society. It is at this point that we join the storyline of modern day Ashianae: a time when one of the most advanced civilizations faces complete and permanent collapse.
